Welcome to the West Sky Quarterly

West Sky began as a dream many years ago.

The Sky part probably needs very little explanation. I spent countless hours in my adolescence looking up at it, dreaming and wondering what might exist somewhere beyond the world I knew.

And West? Well, there has always been something about that word.

Adventure. Mystery. Independence. The promise of something waiting just beyond the horizon.

It is that same spirit that has propelled men and women west for generations.

So putting those two words together was really a no-brainer. West Sky.

For me, those words held adventure. They still do.

And now West Sky is becoming something else—a place to collect and share the stories of the people we know and love, the dreams and aspirations that continue to pull us forward, and, of course, the animals whose love, affection and companionship give our lives so much meaning.

This quarterly journal isn’t intended to tell you how to live. I’d much rather celebrate the interesting ways people already do.

The roads we travel. The things we create. The places we call home. The animals we love. The dreams we’ve chased—and perhaps a few we’re still chasing.

Most of all, I hope West Sky becomes a community of people who recognize something I’ve come to believe very deeply: Sharing life with animals is an evolved lifestyle.

So I hope you’ll join me.

There are stories to tell. And plenty of road ahead.
